Photos show PKR leader in lewd act

A PKR division leader in Kedah allegedly performed an indecent act while chatting with a woman online.
Badan Bertindak Anti-Penyelewengan Kedah president Khairul Anuar Ramli said video grab photographs of the leader performing the act were posted on several blogs.
He said the leader could have used a PKR office computer to chat with the woman as a party flag could be seen in the background.
“We urge the leader to immediately deny this and initiate legal action against the bloggers if he is not the person in the video,” Khairul said at a press conference here yesterday.
“The Kedah Government should also investigate and take appropriate action as the leader holds a state-appointed position.”
Khairul also urged Kedah PKR chief Datuk Wan Salleh Wan Isa to explain if there was any truth to allegations that 15 divisions in the state had not received their RM10,000 allocation for last year.
“We understand that the PKR headquarters had allocated RM10,000 to each of the divisions but the money had not reached them,” he said.
“Many of the division leaders claim they had to use their own money to carry out programmes and activities.”
Khairul also claimed that local PKR leaders were unhappy that party vice-president N. Surendran and secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution would be fielded as parachute candidates in Kedah in the general election.

NGO wants Sultan to look into land sales in Kelantan

A non-governmental organisation handed a memorandum to the Sultan of Kelantan over the alleged abuse of power by the state government in selling land to companies from outside the state.
The Kelantan People’s Action Council – led by its president Azmi Ali – was accompanied by hundreds of people, who gathered at Dataran Al-Muhammadi facing Istana Balai Besar in town, to hand over the memorandum.
The memorandum, entitled “Anomalies of PAS-led Kelantan government and surrendering state land to alien companies” was received by a palace official Zairi Abdullah, on behalf of Sultan Muhammad V at about 10.50am.
“Our pleas to the state government have fallen on deaf ears.
“As the people of Kelantan, we will always support Sultan Muhammad V and believe that he has the power to stop the sale of the land under his rule,” said Azmi.
The alleged sale of land under the Ladang Rakyat scheme came under fire after pro-Barisan Nasional blogs claimed that 4,000ha of land in Gua Musang had been sold to Perak DAP leaders.
Kelantan Deputy Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob in reply denied that the land scheme project in the southern region of Kelantan was a failure, and instead blamed land settlers for not using the proper channel and dealing with illegal land syndicates in those areas.
Ahmad Yakob, who is also the Public Administration, Land and Regional Development Committee chairman, claimed that the accusations were staged owing to the upcoming general election.

Wan Azizah sah tanding Dun Selangor

Wan Azizah Wan Ismail

Kedah MB accused of ‘twisting his words’ over info in book

Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak has been accused of twisting his own words when he said the Sayangi Kedah Sejahtera commemorative book was not solely about the achievements of the state government alone, but the Federal Government as well.
Kedah Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Paduka Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said Azizan was trying to avoid embarrassment when it was proven that the book contained false information.
“He is saying this because he knew that the state government had made mistakes in the book and they are now trying to cover their shame,” he said in a statement here yesterday.
Azizan had reportedly clarified on Tuesday that the book did not state that the development and achievements in Kedah belonged to the state government alone, but also to the Federal Government.
Since the book was distributed last week, several Barisan leaders had accused the Kedah government of providing misleading information.
The book had said that the state government had built 12 mosques, but they were actually built by the Federal Government.
Ahmad Bashah said Azizan was quoted as saying that the book's contents were about the state government's achievements and the rakyat can gauge the Pakatan Rakyat state government's successes.
“The book is said to contain the successes of the state government. So, why are they now saying that the book also credits the Federal Government?,” he added.

PM: Malaysia cannot afford to have weak government

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has warned that nascent reforms cannot be done “overnight” and that the country risks slipping backwards if he does not win a strong majority in the coming general election.
He said a reduced parliamentary majority could weaken his drive to curb Malaysia's budget deficit and raise investments.
It may even cost him his job.
“A strong government is necessary for us to accelerate the process of transformation in this country.
“A weak government means instability and uncertainty and a country can ill afford that kind of scenario for the next five years given the external economic situation that's going to be between weak and rather uncertain,” he told Reuters.
Najib has delayed painful reforms to wean the country off oil revenues and stem rising debt.
He signalled that those steps would not be rushed through even if he formed a stronger government than the 2008 election, when Barisan Nasional lost its two-thirds parliamentary majority for the first time.
“If you try to do it overnight like some countries are doing, there's a massive contraction of the economy,” he said.
“We cannot afford that. We have to be mildly expansionary in our policies but fiscally responsible,” Najib said.
Taking over as prime minister in 2009, Najib initiated reforms aimed at spurring growth, increasing transparency and dismantling policies that favour majority ethnic Malays but which have alienated minority ethnic Chinese and Indians.
His flagship policy is the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP)which aims to double per capita income to RM46,514 by 2020.
Najib said that a “vast majority” of government contracts were now awarded through open tender and that government spending was increasingly based on needs rather than race.
