Wee Ka Siong Biadap

Pemuda Umno Selangor menggesa Ketua Pemuda MCA Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong menarik balik dan memohon maaf di atas kenyataannya sebelum ini yang mempertikaikan titah Sultan Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

Ketua Pemuda Umno Selangor Zainuri Zainal berkata, kenyataan Wee itu dilihat sebagai biadap dan mengecam tindakan mana-mana pihak yang mempersoalkan titah Sultan.

Zainuri berkata, sebagai seorang Ketua Pemua parti Komponen Barisan Nasional (BN), bekas Timbalan Menteri Pelajaran itu sepatutnya berhati-hati sebelum membuat sebarang kenyataan berhubung sensitiviti sesuatu kaum.

“Kami sebulat suara mengutuk perbuatan biadap Wee dan mendesak supaya beliau menarik semula kenyataan itu serta memohon maaf secara terbuka kepada Sultan Selangor khasnya kepada seluruh rakyat Selangor,” katanya dalam sidang media di Bangunan Umno Selangor di sini hari ini.

Beliau bagaimanapun tidak memberikan sebarang tempoh masa kepada Wee untuk berbuat demikian, tetapi berikrar akan terus mendesak termasuk usaha mengerakkan rangkaian Pemuda Umno seluruh negara menuntut sehingga Wee mengemukakan maaf.

“Sekiranya Wee tidak tahu sensitiviti masyarakat Melayu Islam kami sedia beri kursus percuma supaya beliau memahami isi Rukun Negara,” katanya.

Malah, pihaknya tidak teragak-agak mendesak supaya gelaran ‘Datuk’ Ahli Parlimen Ayer Hitam itu ditarik balik sekiranya masih tiada sebarang respon dikemukakan.

Katanya, Wee sebagai wakil rakyat Johor tidak sepatutnya masuk campur dalam urusan berkaitan agama di Selangor dan menganggap Wee hanya mahu meraih perhatian politik menjelang pemilihan MCA pada Disember depan.

“Kita cabar dia kalau titah sama dikeluarkan oleh Sultan Johor adakah dia berani menidakkan dan memperlekehkan Sultan Johor,” soalnya.

Wee dalam laporan FMT minggu lalu mempersoalkan titah Sultan Selangor yang melarang penggunaan kalimah Allah dalam kitab ‘Bible’ dan juga penerbitan ‘Herald’ versi Bahasa Melayu perlu dihentikan serta merta.

Merujuk kepada rayuan kes di Mahkamah Rayuan antara Kementerian Dalam Negeri (KDN) dengan penerbitan mingguan Katolik, The Herald pada 14 Oktober lalu, Baginda menggesa semua rakyat di Selangor mematuhi keputusan itu.

Namun Wee dilaporkan berpendapat kerajaan juga perlu membenarkan penganut Kristian di Semenanjung menggunakan ‘Allah’ merujuk kepada Tuhan.

“Pemuda Umno akan sentiasa menjunjung titah Sultan Selangor dan mempertahankan institusi raja dari diperlekehkan oleh pihak tidak bertanggungjawab,” tegas Zainuri.

Selain itu, beliau berkata pihaknya turut terkilan dengan Menteri Besar Selangor Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim kerana gagal mempertahankan isu itu sehingga diperkotak-katikkan oleh pihak lain.

Katanya, Abdul Khalid sebagai ketua eksekutif negeri yang dilantik Sultan Selangor wajib berdiri teguh mempertahankan maruah institusi diraja dari diperlekehkan, namun sehingga hari ini beliau hanya mendiamkan diri.

“Sebelum ini kami menunggu kerana mengharapkan sepatutnya Menteri Besar perlu kehadapan memberi kenyataan mempertahankan maruah Baginda bukannya Pemuda Umno.

“Tetapi sekarang kami tidak boleh berdiam diri lagi dan akan berdiri teguh mempertahankan kedaulatan institusi diRaja,” katanya.

Pas patut contohi UMNO..Yang slaah tetap salah.Bukan macam Pas yang buat pekak dan tuli dengan kenyataan Dap.

Sultan Selangor: Arah HENTIKAN SERTA MERTA penggunaan kalimah ALLAH

Sultan Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah bertitah penggunaan kalimah Allah dalam Bible dan juga penerbitannya dalam akhbar mingguan The Herald versi Bahasa Melayu, perlu dihentikan serta merta.

 "Ini kerana kalimah Allah bagi umat Islam adalah merujuk kepada Tuhan Yang Satu seperti yang terdapat di dalam Surah Al-Ikhlas. 

"Semua rakyat di Selangor khasnya perlu menghormati dan mematuhi keputusan yang dibuat oleh Muzakarah Jawatankuasa Fatwa Kebangsaan, Jawatankuasa Fatwa Negeri Selangor, undang-undang serta keputusan secara sebulat suara oleh Mahkamah Rayuan pada 14 Oktober lalu," titah baginda dalam satu kenyataan di sini, hari ini.

Baginda juga menasihatkan mana-mana pihak tidak mengambil kesempatan menjadikan isu kalimah Allah sebagai agenda politik mereka kerana kalimah Allah ialah satu kalimah suci dan membabitkan akidah umat Islam.

The ‘Allah’ issue re-articulated

Malaysians must be wise enough to appreciate the debate and put the issue into its proper perspective, siding with the truth, in order not to destabilise peace and harmony.

THE Allah controversy seems to enter into a more tranquil domain with the ruling of the High Court (December 2009), allowing the Christians to use the term Allah in their scripture and other ecclesiastical materials. Of course this judgment pleases one group and dissatisfies another.

The latter has appealed the decision and the case is now pending at the Appellate Court.

Obviously the tension between the two groups persists. And any “ultimate” amicable solution is yet to be seen on the horizon. There is no guarantee that the much awaited decision of the Appellate Court would help the dust settle down. It is likely that this case may be further brought up to the Federal Court.

When the controversy and its ugly consequences resurfaced due to a statement by a political leader over Christmas Day last year, I feel obliged to revisit the issue and re-articulate certain points raised by some academics at Ikim which, if sensibly heeded to by all disputing parties, could reduce the resulting chaos and confusion.

Regardless of the extreme sensitivity of the controversy, it has to be re-addressed as its detrimental impacts may inflict further damage to the country. The media must responsibly play their role to eliminate the misunderstanding and allay unwarranted fears from among the public, and not to be biased or provocative to worsen the crisis.

All political leaders must not manipulate the issue and unethically manoeuvre for sheer political gains with the imminent coming of the 13th general election. All communal and religious heads must be more sincere, honest and respectful to others by abiding to the truth contained in their respective teachings. They have to be more rational, too.

To materialise the above, perhaps we need to set aside the possible sub-judicial nature of any related discussions or bridging efforts for the two communities. Let’s give priority to our national solidarity.

I urge all Malaysians to be wise enough to appreciate the debate and put the entire issue into its proper place and perspective, siding with the truth, in order not to destabilise the harmonious and peaceful life of all citizens. This serves the greater public interest of all.

From the very beginning, when the controversy first broke out at the end of 2007 and subsequently turned viral later on, Ikim has put forward one of the most powerful arguments in rebutting the claim made by the Christians. It centres on the correct use of language and proper translation/rendering.

The Christians, in championing their so-called right to employ the word “Allah” as a translation for “God”, argued, among others, that “Allah” has been used in their Bible for centuries; that Allah has been used by the Arab-Christians even before the coming of Islam; that at the international level Christians in various parts of the world have been using Allah without problems to Muslims; that at the national level Christians in Sabah and Sarawak have been using the term for decades without offending the Muslims. They appear to insist that there is no mala fideinvolved in all the aforementioned situations.

The first Ikim response came from the institute’s director-general himself, Datuk Dr Syed Ali Tawfik al-Attas, as he then was.

In his article, A corruption of religious thought, Dr Syed Ali logically and intelligently applied theological, historical, social, linguistic and legal arguments to question and refute those claims.

One of his most important key points lies in the fact that the Christians were wrong in their understanding and application of the Malay language for the translation. He emphasises that “Allah” is the proper name for God in Islam. Therefore, it cannot and should not be translated into any language. This explains why Muslims all over the globe are using the same term to refer to their God, not simply any translation that might be available in their respective languages.

The second article by Dr Mohd Sani Badron, Heresy arises from words wrongly used, reinforces the first one. Supported by quotations from certain Christian leading priests, he shows that even the religion itself disapproves off any attempt to paint its trinity concept with Islamically-inclined contents.

Citing scholars and sources from Islamic tradition, Dr Sani further proves that indeed Allah is a proper name or noun, and it is a non-derivative word. He stresses that “God” is a common noun whereby the only correct Malay translation for it is “Tuhan”.

This linguistic dimension was expanded by Dr Mohd Zaidi Ismail in hisUnderstanding the Allah controversy. To him, the controversy pertains to the problem of correct translation related to the correct usage of language.

Consolidating the two earlier writers, Dr Zaidi re-affirms that “Allah” is the proper name for the Absolute one God of Islam.

As such, it cannot be translated and must be basically maintained as it is.

Years after 2007, it is certainly pleasant to observe that Muslims are now more united in handling the Allah issue. More reliable expressions, prominent figures and influential bodies surge to the front line defending Islam and the rights of its adherents. Some have even courageously changed their earlier positions.

One of the latest interesting writings comes from two young Muslims, in their article published in two consecutive days by another English daily – the New Straits Times. This piece perhaps put the last nail to the contentious encounter.

Over the issue, Muslims should not seek protection or legal redress by resorting to the Cabinet’s decree, or even the Federal and state constitutions or statutes.

To safeguard the sanctity of Islam in particular, Muslims at times need to look for argumentations far beyond these legal instruments, something that is deeply rooted in knowledge and the real truth.

This article is actually a prelude to the forthcoming Ikim English publication on the Allah controversy in Malaysia, consisting of all articles aforementioned. Interested readers, Muslims or otherwise, should wait for this work for more detailed argumentations to help them put justice to its due place.

Group: Make a clear stand on Allah issue

TAIPING: The opposition pact has to make a clear stand on the “Allah” issue following a ruling by the PAS Syura Council that the kalimah is not to be used by non-Muslims, a group claiming to be PAS members and supporters from the Aulong branch here demanded.

The group also took DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to task over his call in a Christmas message last December for the Federal Government to allow the word “Allah” to be used in the Malay version of the Bible.

At the same time, they also want the Syura Council to explain what is the hukum (law bound by religion) if PAS helps DAP and PKR in the general election.

“Would the (PAS) members be considered kufur? (going against Allah’s will)?” asked group spokesman Ramli Sudin.

The group of 15, who claimed they represented over 100 members from the Aulong PAS branch, protested outside the Taiping Zoo and Night Safari to demand a clear explanation from all three parties in the opposition pact on the “Allah” issue.

They held banners that criticised Lim, DAP national chairman Karpal Singh and PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“We are confused because the parties do not agree with one another on the issue,” said Ramli.

“Other than a clear explanation, we also demand that Lim apologises to Muslims around the world for bringing up the issue and offending us,” Ramli added.

Ramli said the group was disappointed that Lim, Karpal and Anwar had stubbornly refused to accept the Syura Council’s decision on the matter, urging PAS leaders to be firm in handling the matter.

“As members who had helped the party in the previous general election, we want the council to explain what the hukum is if the party helps DAP and PKR in the upcoming polls.”

No hotel meeting between Nik Aziz and DAP, says Karpal

DAP national chairman Karpal Singh yesterday stressed that the party did not have a meeting with PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat at a hotel in Penang on Jan 28 where the issue of the usage of "Allah" was discussed, contrary to reports by an English daily.

"Consequently, the question of Nik Aziz having explained the matter and the (PAS) Syura Council's decision (on the "Allah" usage) to the DAP and the issue having been settled cannot arise," he said in a statement.

He noted that the daily had quoted PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang as saying that the "kalimah Allah" issue had been settled between PAS and DAP through the alleged meeting.

"I had not stated at any time that there was a meeting between me or the DAP leadership with Nik Aziz at a hotel in Penang. I had stated that the issue of 'kalimah Allah' was not discussed between me and Nik Aziz when he called at my residence on Jan 27," Karpal said.

He expressed regret that the daily has not printing a correction despite his clarification to the relevant writer.

The issue of the use of "Allah" among non-Muslims has been a point of contention between DAP and PAS.

Karpal said DAP's stand on the issue remains as that stated during the Jan 8 press conference by Hadi Awang, PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang, which stated that Islam does not restrict non-Muslims from using "Allah" in their religious practices, but it must not be misused to create confusion among Muslims.

Don’t interfere in PAS affairs, Nik Aziz tells Karpal

DAP chairman Karpal Singh should not interfere in PAS' affairs regarding the Syura Council decision to ban the use of “Allah” in non-Muslim religious books, said party spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

His words came barely a week after Nik Aziz went to Karpal's house in Penang to celebrate the former's birthday.

“He (Karpal) can say anything he wants but he does not know what is happening in PAS. Only PAS members know what is happening. Similarly, PAS members do not know what is happening in DAP.

He was asked to comment on media reports that Karpal had disputed the statement by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang that the Allah issue had been accepted by non-Muslims including DAP.

Karpal also said that he was steadfast in the collective decision by the Pakatan Rakyat's stand that “Allah” can be used in non-Muslim religious books.

PAS had never interfered with the religions of the non-Muslims, and as such, DAP should respect PAS over the Allah issue.

Nampaknya Dap harus jaga mulut terutama mulut  Karpal, Sebab Dap ni terlalu sibuk nak jaga hal parti lain.Tapi partinya,x boleh lak orang lain nak campur tangan.Adil ke macam tu??
