Don't take support for granted: Muhyiddin

Do not take voter support for granted, and always remember that voters are the "kings" in a general election.
That was the message from Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to grassroots leaders at the launch of the Barisan Nasional (BN) Batu parliamentary seat command centre here today.
"Work hard. Don't think the fight will be easy. Some may say the people are beginning to see, understand and appreciate the contributions of the BN government with things such as Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia, which show the government's efforts to protect the welfare of the people.
"But we cannot assume that all will be smooth sailing, because in this general election the voters are the kings," he said.
He said voters can do anything they want, as the democratic system enables them to vote as they please.
"Nobody can force them to vote, they decide everything," he added.
Muhyiddin also told some 300 grassroots leaders that a spirit of camaraderie is more important than ever in the run-up to the polls.
He said Barisan Nasional (BN) can recapture the Batu seat if there is hard work and determination by all leaders and members.
He also expressed confidence that the BN government is strong, and enjoys the people's support.
"There have been reports that opposition parties intend to cause trouble on the polling day," he claimed.
"But why would they do so if not because they are scared that the people have returned to BN, and that BN is strong?" he said to loud cheers.
On the Barisan manifesto launched by BN and Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak on Saturday, Muhyiddin said it is a clear choice for the people, between two manifestos.
"The people can compare which manifesto can be trusted, which one can be fulfilled and they will see that it is BN's manifesto," he said.
