Another DAP life member asks for probe

Another DAP member has asked the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to investigate the results of the party's recent elections.
Former Taman Megah branch deputy chairman Lee Chee Chengsubmitted a copy of a police report that he lodged on Jan 24 to the ROS yesterday, in which he alleged that the election results were invalid.
Lee wants both the police and the ROS to investigate if there were elements of fraud in the Dec 15 election of the party's central executive committee (CEC).
“I also urge (DAP secretary-general) Lim Guan Eng to submit the election tabulation log to the ROS for further investigation,” Lee said at the ROS headquarters lobby here.
Lee claimed that he has been a DAP life member since 2009.
On Jan 14, two other DAP life members submitted a similar request to the ROS here.
Ladang Paroi branch vice-chairman David Dass A. and secretary Mahendran Krishnan said they were shocked when the results were changed almost three weeks after the official results were announced.
The party had, early last month, admitted to a tabulation error in the results, which saw Lim's aide Zairil Khir Johari moved up from the 39th to the 20th position, giving him the last spot in the CEC.
Zairil is the sole Malay candidate who had successfully won a place in the CEC.
The error, which the party said had occurred as a result of a “technical glitch”, also saw the resignation of its election director Pooi Weng Keong.
Apart from the election of Zairil into the CEC, the new results also saw Vincent Wu, who was initially announced to have secured the sixth spot with 1,202 votes, dropped to the 26th spot with 669 votes.
It was reported that the party leadership has conducted an internal audit of the tally sheet results with verification by external auditors following the discovery of the error.
