Banners humiliating individuals will be removed: Khalid

The Selangor government has asked the local authorities to bring down banners and advertisements that humiliate individuals during the 13th general election (GE13) in the state.
Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said this was to ensure that the GE13 would be remembered as a poll that was not the dirtiest in the country's history.
"As the Menteri Besar for the caretaker government, I have asked all the local authorities to monitor so that no political party flags were brought down unless they were put up at unsafe locations to the extent of hindering and obstructing road users.
"Similarly, banners and advertisement boards put up on road shoulders that obstruct road users must be relocated to more suitable places. I have also instructed the local authorities to bring down banners that insulted the opposing candidates," he said in a statement, here today.
Abdul Khalid said the GE13 was considered as the mother of elections in Malaysia because it would be the first time in the political history of the country that the opposition pact would give the most intense challenge to the Barisan Nasional.
He hoped that supporters of both sides would be more mature politically and would implement the rights provided in the Federal Constitution in the general election this time.
"It is important that both sides ensure that there are no incidents that can lead to fights between supporters of the political parties concerned. Thus, (party) leaders and supporters must maintain ethics and always place priority on harmony," he added.

politik negara perlu bersih dan matang seiring dengan kematangan ahli-ahli politik semua.
