Ramakrishnan: Mutton curry quote taken out of context

LABIS (April 24, 2013): The DAP candidate for the Labis Parliamentary seat S. Ramakrishnan said his quotes in a recent talk where he said Indian votes are not easily bought with beer and mutton curry was taken out of context.
He said his actual meaning was that MCA thinks Indian votes are easily bought with mutton curry and beer, and was not meant to belittle the Indian community.
"My statement has been twisted by MCA. Perhaps because the quote was slightly mistranslated," he told theSun today.
Ramakrishnan was responding to incumbent Labis MP Datuk Chua Tee Yong, who allegedly said his statement was racist in nature.
Meanwhile, Ramakrishnan also said that his planned event at the Achi Jaya plantation was disrupted as the workers there were told not to organise it.
"The workers were also prevented from putting up any banners deemed supportive of Pakatan Rakyat, but the Barisan Nasional ones are up," he claimed.
He said estate holders and employers should allow their workers to express their support openly, and urged the Election Commission (EC) to issue a statement to allow both parties to touch base with the workers.
