Tian Chua bombarded

PETALING JAYA: More groups are condemning PKR vice-president Tian Chua for his “Umno conspiracy” statement on the ongoing Lahad Datu standoff with several of them lodging police reports against the opposition politician.
In IPOH, army veterans Suhaimi Nasir, 54, and Hashim Jabar, 64, were among 50 protesters who burned an effigy of Chua in Chemor near here.
“We have served and protected the country whole-heartedly and he (Chua) dared to insult us. He has offended us and many other soldiers by his statement,” said Suhaimi who served 21 years with the former 6th Ranger Regiment yesterday.
Hashim, a former VAT 69 commando veteran, was also furious at Chua's remark.
“Lives have been lost and he wants to politicise this incident. That is vulgar,” he said.
Chua in his statement in KeadilanDaily.com on Friday said the shooting incident in Lahad Datu was an “Umno government conspiracy to divert attention and frighten the people”.
Perak Perkasa Youth chief Mohd Hafez Mubin Mohd Salleh said the protesters comprised Perkasa members, Perak National Silat Association members and army veterans.
“We want to defend the dignity of our heroes who lost their lives in Sabah,” he said.
“The security of our country is not a sandiwara (play) and there are wives who lost their husbands, children who lost their fathers and families who lost their sons in the incident.”
In GOPENG, Semporna MP Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal said legal action should be taken against Chua for his uncouth statement.
“Instigating the people with such comments without facts is wrong,” said the Rural and Regional Development Minister.
In GEORGE TOWN, several Malay non-governmental organisations lodged seven police reports against Chua.
Among them were Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Dakwah Islamiah Penang, Gabungan Pelajar Melayu Semenanjung Penang and Perkasa Penang.
